longoria_0

The 2012 MLB season is winding down and teams are jockeying for the Wild Cards spots with a chance to win the World Series. In the American League there are a handful of teams fighting to get the elusive Wild Card and the race could easily come down to the last few days of the season. One of the hottest teams in the mix at the moment is the Tampa Bay Rays. The NFL Preseason may be in full-swing, but don’t forget about baseball.

The Rays are one of the hottest teams in the league, winners of six in a row to include eight wins in the last ten games. The odds on the Rays to win the World Series are a tempting 20-to-1 at top rated baseball betting sportsbook, BetOnline.

Rays Are Ready To Make a Run

The Rays seem to be clicking on all cylinders. Evan Longoria is healthy again and back in the lineup, providing a legitimate power source. In fact they are only five games behind the New York Yankees in the American East. It could be argued that the Rays could win the Wild Card or the division, making them a potential candidate to win the World Series.

Winning in the MLB playoffs is all about pitching and the Rays have plenty.  David Price is a rock-solid ace and is putting up Cy Young award numbers. James Shields is starting to locate again, allowing just three earned runs over his last 24 innings. Finally Matt Moore is living up to the hype and that doesn’t include Jeremy Hellickson and one of the best closers in baseball; Fernando Rodney.

As noted by ESPN, Tampa Bay’s staff ERA is three-quarters of a run better than any other team’s since the All-Star break. This is a team that is made for winning in the MLB post season. They pitch well, are above .500 on the road and have a +41 in run differential.Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll.

There are plenty of other teams vying for the Wild Card in the AL, but the Rays give you some great options at the betting window. They have a shot at the Wild Card or the divisional title. They have the deepest pitching staff in the big leagues, a money closer and an experienced playoff team. The Rays performed well down the stretch a year ago and it seems like they are turning it once again.

Now is the time to take advantage of this team and bet them to win the World Series.
