The 2012 MLB season is winding down and teams are jockeying for the Wild Cards spots with a chance to win the World Series. In the American League there are a handful of teams fighting to get the elusive Wild Card and the race could easily come down to the last few days of the season. One of the hottest teams in the mix at the moment is the Tampa Bay Rays. The NFL Preseason may be in full-swing, but don’t forget about baseball.

In fact they are only five games behind the New York Yankees in the American East. James Shields is starting to locate again, allowing just three earned runs over his last 24 innings. As noted by ESPN, Tampa Bay’s staff ERA is three-quarters of a run better than any other team’s since the All-Star break. This is a team that is made for winning in the MLB post season.
